My Dirty Secret: an experiential installation by Kristina Veasey
March 24 @ 11:00 am - March 31 @ 5:00 pm
Kristina Veasey invites you to the final exhibition of My Dirty Secret, commissioned and supported by Unlimited, celebrating the work of disabled artists, with funding from Spirit of 2012.
The surprising results of this unlikely friendship are celebrated through a vibrant, immersive installation.By combining the digital with the traditional, images of common household detritus have been transformed into stunning fabrics and furnishings, creating a domestic setting with quirky patterns and psychedelic tessellations running riot across walls, curtains, cushions and furniture.
Kristina invites you to really share her in Dirty Secrets; relax in the upholstered armchair; sit at the dining table; draw the curtains; open the mail and answer the telephone. A Through the Keyhole style TV programme will take you on an audio-visual exploration of your surroundings, whilst a soundscape fills the space with domestic sounds and captured conversations about mess and dirt.
Through humour and surprise, the installation prompts visitors to observe the everyday in new ways. Will you be so swift to vacuum under the sofa, or pause to re-imagine the discarded treasures beneath?
