Sheila Hay is a ceramic artist who pushes the boundaries of craft and art. Her work has great respect for the traditional craft of ceramics but uses the materials in innovative and unexpected ways.
A natural experimenter, her work moves from functional in tableware and outdoor garden vessels to sculptural installation works and sometimes to figurative work springing from her love of life studies.
She has worked and exhibited in Italy and America as well as the UK, where she is now based, living in the South Downs village of East Dean.
