Artist and curator Judith Alder will lead a talk and workshop for our April 2018 edition of Cafe Culture, which invites artists to develop their practice in the company of food, wine and peers in a fun weekday evening out.

It is an evening of 2 parts:

7-9pm Workshop: Professional development group surgery – Working out your professional development needs and how to get the right support e.g. accessing mentoring, one-to-one consultations/tutorials, development residencies, equipment and workshop facilities, skills development, networks and studio groups, crit groups, talks and lectures, libraries and publications.

BOOKING ESSENTIAL Please ensure that you book your place so that we know how many people to expect. Details of how to book are below. Please bring a laptop or tablet if you have one.

If booking a place for the workshop:

  • Please take some time to think about what you’d like to get out of the session
  • Write a short outline (about 100-200 words) about what areas of your practice you might like to develop, e.g. exhibiting your work more widely; exploring new opportunities; collaborating with others; running your own projects/exhibitions; making more ambitious work; learning new skills etc.
  • When booking your place, please send the brief outline described above, along with a short CV and link to your website if you have one, or 5 low-resolution images of your work if you don’t have a website, to Judith at bluemonkeynet@btinternet.com.

JUDITH ALDER is an artist, curator and organiser of Blue Monkey Network, Eastbourne. She is interested in how things grow and change over time and how science, nature and technology collide in the Anthropocene: The Age of Man – “a time in which it feels impossible to maintain pace with the present, never mind to chart the future.”

Judith has worked with arts organisations, galleries, universities, schools, on an allotment, and with a military museum. Alongside her artistic practice, Judith runs Blue Monkey Network, an artists’ development organisation based at Towner, Eastbourne, which offers regular events for artists. Keep up with all Judith’s news, new work, portfolio and cv on her Axisweb profile, sign up for her news updates, or find out more about Blue Monkey Network.
