Face 2 Face : Peer Support For Parent Carers at DC3
June 13 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Face 2 Face : Peer Support For Parent Carers launching in East Sussex
Face 2 Face provides emotional support for parents of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs. We particularly focus on supporting families in the early days, when a child is undergoing assessments or around the time of diagnosis.
Face 2 Face is delivered by a team of volunteer befrienders, all parents of children with additional needs.
Do you feel you have the knowledge and experience to support other parents? We are looking to train up a team of volunteer befrienders in East Sussex. Training will run over June and July in Eastbourne and includes listening skills, boundaries, safeguarding and the parent journey. It will run during school hours and expenses will be paid.
Every Thursday from 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th June and 4th, 11th, 18th July 2019
At 9am-3pm (apart from 6th June will be 9am – 1pm)
For more information about the opportunity contact the projects coordinator Amanda Moretonsen at firstname.lastname@example.org or 07917 887 526
Amazing Futures is a project to improve support for young people aged 14-25 with special educational needs & disabilities (SEND) going through transition to adulthood.
Running in Eastbourne from September 2018, the project offers young people with SEND all sorts of free of charge support group based activities, workshops and events.
Amazing Futures includes peer support training to any young person interested in supporting young people with SEND to play an active role in their community and become expert participants.
Peer supporters will assist young people with SEND to identify goals they want to achieve through this project such as:
- Taking part in training, volunteer or work experience opportunities
- Developing their confidence levels and learning new life skills
- Increasing their sense of wellbeing through meaningful engagement
- Widening social networks and joining a club or group, such as the Amazing Futures activities programme
