Sussex Dance Network and DCLive presents : Thick and Tight
Thick & Tight are Daniel Hay-Gordon and Eleanor Perry, an award winning British based dance theatre duo who create avant-garde shows using dance, lip-syncing, text, film, design and acting to present characters who collide on the dance floor. Founded in the rigour of ballet and contemporary dance techniques, their work is exuberantly theatrical & eccentric, aiming to plumb the depths of human experience to entertain and move our audience. Their work extends from dance/theatre to cabaret, gallery and festival audiences.
Thick & Tight’s work springs from an ongoing exploration into the idea of ‘queerness in dance’ and its relevance for non-dance/LGBTQ+ audiences. They aim to present dance in solidarity with the past and present in queer culture, through the content and style of their work. Icons, drama, high camp, humour, struggle and resistance are depicted as the lives of well known people are examined in intricately crafted pieces of theatre.
The show is a creative talk with extracts of video, costume and movement.
In this talk presented by Sussex Dance Network and Devonshire Collective,Thick & Tight will discuss their creative methods, processes and inspirations. They will also show excerpts of their latest show A Night with Thick & Tight, a triple bill looking at Queen Victoria, Marilyn Monroe and Claude Cahun, among others. A Night with Thick & Tight was presented during the London International Mime Festival 2019
