Join us for an open day for all ages on Saturday 2 March 2024, 12 - 4pm. Drop-in, free to attend, no booking required.
Challenging Behaviours is a new body of research, interactive artworks and environments by artist India Harvey that investigate the powerful potential of childhood, and what makes adults so afraid of younger generations. Challenging Behaviours situates child-led play as a parallel universe of resistance and survival, through which children express their fears, needs and desires.
India is an artist whose work is concerned with development and possibilities of intergenerational socio-sensory opportunities. Through this work India explores why and how people of all ages can be active contributors to society. Challenging Behaviours asks: what is it about children’s freedom and independence that destabilises adult perceptions of childhood?
Referencing a range of sources from pop culture to education theory, such as 1960s cult film Village of The Damned and D.W. Winnicott's Playing and Reality, this interactive exhibition explores what an intergenerational social space might feel like by inviting participants to play, question and experiment together.
An accompanying programme of events will be announced soon.
