For this work Rottingdean Bazaar use one of the arcade’s Skill Cut Winner machines, in which a player must cut a string with an automated blade to release the prize, a giant plush teddy bear. In an ongoing series, the artists make varying alterations to this prize bear with the game remaining playable and the bear winnable, replaced by the next in the series when each is won.
Rottingdean Bazaar are James Theseus Buck and Luke Brooks. Working together as a duo since 2015, their artistic practice spans contemporary art, creative direction, fashion design, installation and video direction. Rottingdean Bazaar live and work in Rottingdean, East Sussex, UK.
Skill Cut Winner is located at Family Amusements, Eastbourne Pier, Grand Parade, Eastbourne Pier, BN21 3EL. Plan your visit with this interactive map!
