From a new series of works called More Things I Don't Understand Judith Alder is an Eastbourne-based artist. She works with a range of low tech media and materials
to make drawings, sculpture and moving image. Judith’s work is informed by her interest in science and nature and her current drawings reflect her efforts to gain a better grasp of elementary chemistry, physics and biology as she attempts to understand more about the world we live in. Her research draws upon diverse sources, from conversations with scientists and ethicists, to chats in the pub, and from academic papers to sci-fi novels. The work offers a sideways, sometimes humorous
look, at some of life’s complex questions such as where we come from, what we’re made of and the weird peculiarities of life, the universe and everything.
